Control

The bands I grew up to in the loose sense of growing up. The Fall and Joy Division always figured highly on my playlist in the flat. The Fall seemed to cater for that angst with semi mystic lyric. Joy Division seemed deep and angst and a whole lotta things.

So when Ian Curtis takes his life what a crash. What a band that could have been. Miraculously New Order rose from this tragedy with success.

Seeing the movie Control re kindled all those feelings from the dizzy days when music could affect public thought and business can be a collective and bands could all earn direct avoiding that middle greedy business man!

But all the nostalgia aside. I felt like I was getting some "closure" something of an answering of why Ian Curtis took his life.

Even at moments I was transported back to the music the realness and the acting completely took me, I forgot ...this ends bad.

Wow what a movie from the bleakness of black and white TV Manchester England. This movie works on so many levels and gives such an understanding as one can of the band and the man Ian Curtis was.

The genius that was Joy Division a must see movie.

The Departed

What a good movie. Jack Nicholson playing a bad guy, nothing unusual here but usually some compassion lingers in his character but not this time. Living at the top of his game and what a game.

Somehow this movie seems to play with ones emotions, I felt for both Mat Damons and Leonardo De Caprios characters.

But which one to side with? Who is the good guy? Still left wondering what does The Departed mean?

Liked it though and it seems everyone got what they deserved in the end....

Casino Royale

Casino Royale on Blu-Ray

Well I wish I had a Blu-Ray player as this movie I enjoyed heaps and am now keen to see the difference of the quality means to my home viewing. Does this now mean an upgrade of technology. Should I dive in and get the widescreen LCD or Plasma. Is it time to upgrade the home theatre, surround system.

I am keen but the choices are great and varied. Which one will become the standard. Blu-Ray or HD DVD.

Woe is me.

All these thoughts aside what a great Bond movie. Finally I think this chaps got it. That certain thing that brings the Bond character it's special appeal to so many.

Thoroughly taken I was ...glad to be made a James Bond fan again.

Can't wait till the next one and may Daniel Craig survive long in the role.
